PROSPECTS
- A player is considered to be a prospect until he reaches 130 career MLB at-bats or 50 career MLB innings pitched.
- A player is able to be picked up from ESPN's free agent pool if:
- Player isn't currently rostered on another team's MLB or MiLB roster
- It is after completion of MiLB Draft (begins March 2 each season) and has at least 1 MLB AB or 1 MLB pitching appearance (as clarified on 4/8/13) before August 15 trade deadline.
- Prospects picked from free agent pool that meet the above time frame guidelines must stay on your MLB roster and are not eligible to be added to your MiLB roster.
MiLB ROSTERS
- A player that has been acquired (via draft or trade) is eligible to stay on your MiLB roster until they reach the 50/130 career marker without it affecting your total number of allowable players (8). From the day the player reaches this mark, the owner has 7 days to move this player to their MLB roster or that player becomes released into free agent pool and is eligible to be picked up by another team (example: player reaches 130th career at bat on a Sunday...owner has until midnight EST the following Sunday night to add to MLB roster or he is released).
- Each team has 8 MiLB roster spots. More spots can be added ONLY to hold prospects acquired via trade with other teams. Once that player reaches the 50/130 mark, is traded or released that extra roster spot is forfeited.
- A player can be moved up and down between their MLB and MiLB roster as many times as they would like until they reach the 50/130 mark (*with the exception of if they were moved to your MLB roster prior to the MiLB draft in order to make room for an extra pick in which case if they are dropped from MLB roster they are fair game to anyone to pick up - added 2/24/13 via league vote to ammend adding players to MLB roster to add extra pick space).
MiLB DRAFT
- Draft begins on March 2 every season on the league's message board.
- Draft order is determined by final season standings (ordered 10 through 1) and is in snake draft format.
- Each has up to 8 draft picks depending on how many roster spots they have available.
- Prior to the draft (up until 11:59 PM CST on February 28 or 29 in cases of leap year) each team must decide what players they would like to keep on their MiLB roster. You can either:
- Keep a player
- Add a player to your MLB roster (making him ineligible to return to your MiLB roster in the case that you are making room for an extra draft pick in which case if they are dropped from MLB roster they are fair game to anyone to pick up - added 2/24/13 via league vote to ammend adding players to MLB roster to add extra pick space).
- Drop a player which makes them eligible for another team to draft.
- However many players you keep on your MiLB roster that is how many fewer draft picks you have (example: you keep 5 of your prospects means you have 3 picks in that draft and you lose your final 5 rounds).
- During snake draft, once a team is reached that is out of picks, they will be skipped over and the next team in line drafts.
TRADES
- Trade deadline is August 15.
- A trade will process:
- Once trade has been accepted and commissioner is able to review (usually done within an hour of accepting if during normal business hours).
- Trading blocks should be updated regularly and as exact as possible.
- Any trades involving MiLB rostered players or future draft picks must made public on message board detailing ENTIRE trade as clearly as possible to avoid confusion or arguments.
DL ELIGIBLE PLAYERS
- A player is eligible to be rostered in a DL spot ONLY if they have an ESPN asterisk (*) next to their name.
- Team owners have 2 days after player returns to action (and has * removed from their name) to make appropriate adjustments. If this is not done commissioner has authority to warn owner and will be subject to having player removed from team.
- Following the end of the season, ESPN will eventually update their DL'd players. Once this happens you must make appropriate adjustments to your roster.
AVAILABILITY/COMMUNICATION/STAYING ACTIVE
- We all have lives outside the world of fantasy baseball and summer's can become hectic. With that being said please do your best at responding to league wide emails, voting on trades, trade offers and emails from fellow owners. This makes the entire league more enjoyable. Please keep your team updated with correct email addresses to avoid missing out on anything that may be going on.
- Please make sure to keep your rosters active and updated. It isn't fair to your fellow owners if you have players on the DL in your starting lineup. This gives an unfair advantage to whoever you are facing for the week. Please keep a close eye on putting out the most competitive lineup possible day in and day out.
- If you ever have questions, please don't hesitate posting on the league message board or emailing the commissioner.
